Custom Wardrobe

Just like built in wardrobes, custom wardrobes made to measure, offer that option of the ultimate personalisation in your wardrobe design. Our design process will be sure to help you make the right considered decisions in choosing the style and colours that best meets your taste and built in wardrobe interiors storage needs.  Custom fitted wardrobes, scribed to skirting and walls or wardrobe closets fee standing, these choices are likely to be influenced by the space in your room and your storage requirements.  Door samples and wardrobe interior panels along with a selection of beautiful wardrobe door handles, are reviewed in our free consultation, to help define your choice of wardrobe fittings.

The first consideration for your custom wardrobe will be to decide on either sliding wardrobe door company, hinged wardrobe doors or a supplier of both door types.  Design ideas may include combining wardrobe mirror sliding doors with shaker door styles. Mirrored doors also come with an option to incorporate coloured glass in different sized sections across the front of the wardrobe door.  Wardrobe locks and sensor activated wardrobe lights might be other points to consider for safely storing designer handbags and other personal items.  We advise on wardrobe interior colours with options to complement the exterior finish to your custom wardrobe.

Alcove Cupboards

Alcoves provide the ideal storage space for custom made wardrobes. The typical challenges faced are that the width on either side of a chimney breast is rarely equal.  Our experience wardrobe designers provide some smart solutions that will optimise storage and create a sense of symmetry either side of a chimney breast.  The depth of most alcoves is usually inadequate for the hanging of clothes, so by increasing the alcove wardrobe depth, we create feature storage cupboards that extend beyond a central chimney breast.  For bedrooms that have sufficient hinged wardrobe door opening space, doors fitted wall to wall covering a chimney breast create narrow storage space in front of the chimney breast wall. The space created is ideal for a shoe cabinet with shelves for those get and go items such as jumpers, jeans, t-shirts and gym wear. For narrow wardrobe access beside a bed, sliding wardrobe doors wall to wall become an ideal wardrobe organiser hiding unequal storage areas.

Similar door sizes provide symmetry and hide different sized alcove openings, allowing for wardrobe interiors to be designed to utilise the storage space fully.  Alcoves with tall ceilings offer that extra storage solution of having either tall storage cabinets doors fitted floor to ceiling or wardrobe top cupboards. Depending on the ceiling height, your wardrobe designer will recommend the storage configuration best suited to your space and choice of wardrobe door design.

Wardrobe Theatre

Several stylish wardrobe designs and configurations provide an elegant solution to incorporate a wardrobe theatre or simply put, a wardrobe with TV space.  Assuming that your TV is central to the run of wardrobe doors and central to your bed.  The space designed to watch your TV can be, to have wardrobes either side of a TV area that is open with no doors or have the TV enclosed behind wardrobe doors.  The design with no doors in front of the TV works well for bedrooms with limited space, creating depth to reveal a wallpapered or painted wall behind the TV. Depending on the space between the end of a bed and wardrobe front.  External wardrobe drawers fitted below the TV for extra storage.  For shallow areas, fitted cupboard doors provide access to shelf storage.

Wardrobe pocket doors enable wardrobe doors to be opened and returned into the wardrobe for TV viewing.  The other alternative is to have wardrobe hinged doors fitted with 120° hinges that allow doors to open further for improved viewing.  If your wardrobe theatre area is offset centre to the side, 120° door opening may not be sufficient for comfortable viewing, so wardrobe pocket doors, sliding wardrobe doors, or an open TV area may be more suitable.  Each wardrobe with TV space is designed specifically for each client, and a great alternative to the limitation of a TV bed.

Wardrobe Storage

We know that designing wardrobe storage is personal and specific to each person’s storage requirements and lifestyle.  There are vital factors to consider when creating functional wardrobe storage.  Does the wardrobe storage cater for all the items to be stored or will space in a spare bedroom wardrobe be required?  If the later, then consider which items to store in the spare bedroom, such as long evening dresses less frequently used.  Consider dividing your bespoke wardrobe by the amount of wardrobe hanging storage required, if wardrobe extension rails are to be used, more usable storage space is accessible when incorporating tall wardrobe doors. Ask yourself how many internal wardrobe drawers and shelves are needed.  When wardrobe storage is limited, use space in the bedroom for freestanding chest of drawers to free up space for more wardrobe rails.

Not forgetting, of course, a closet for shoe storage and handbags, we review the number of shoes and how they are to be stored, either on angled shoe shelves, in boxes on shelves or on pull out shoe trays.  Space allocated for shelving becomes multi-functional with options to fix shelf heights for particular items, be it, clothes, hats, makeup, handbags, travel bags, ski wear or bedding.  Cubed sections of shelving and wardrobe panels create compartments suitable for high boots, laundry basket, home safe or even an ironing board! Wardrobe locks fitted to specific doors ensure secure storage of personal items including watches, jewellery, designer shoes and designer handbags.

Fitted Bedroom Furniture

Beautiful bedrooms come to life when a bedroom layout is designed and filled with fitted bedroom furniture.  The location of a bed in relation to a bedroom window is essential in creating the right layout and feel to a bedroom. Placement of wardrobes is reliant on functional unimpeded wall space and whether angled ceiling or walls are going to impact your wardrobe design. Even with angles impacting your storage space, we custom make angled wardrobe doors from our collection of sliding and hinged wardrobe doors.

If bedroom décor is important and you wish to see bedroom wallpaper, then fitted bedroom furniture does not necessarily mean to fill every pace with wardrobe cupboards. It can be to create a wardrobe that is a central piece of furniture scribed around skirting and affixed to the back wall, with wall space either side.  Fitted yet looking as if it is freestanding wardrobe without dusty voids.

Our experienced wardrobe designers will ensure that your bespoke wardrobe furniture optimises storage space with options to run wardrobe doors along adjoining walls to create a corner wardrobe that connects with low-level chest of drawers, perhaps neatly fitting under a window and including a dressing table positioned in a location of good light or consider small desks for a bedroom. Bedside tables range in size and height available in various colours and styles to compliment small table lamps for the bedroom.
